The Final Post

This will be the last post in this space. I'll leave it up for awhile in case you get the overwhelming urge to revisit my stupid stories about Angela shooting flames into the bathroom cabinet when she had a plumbing wild hair, or the time I spilled Coke Zero on my laptop and caused it to spaz with ppppp's , or anything else of that nature. I still love Coke Zero and I've forgiven it. Anyway, the new blog listed below will become active on Monday the 22nd! (So will the new show.)

Please come Friday to Drink for the Dogs Sue Ellen's. I had brunch with Emily Frye a couple of weeks ago and I can tell she's gonna rock! And you know Kathy Corbin rocks. Some of the auction items are going to be awesome...like Rangers tickets and Starbucks schwag. Enough to make me very happy! You too. So please come. I'd love to meet you. And if I already know you, well it will be cool to see you again. It's been way too long. Here's a link.

You all are my best friends and I love you lots. I hope to see you in my new cyberspace home. I'll put up curtains and plant flowers and make it nice and inviting. See ya!

The Fat Lady is Singin'

This blog is almost history. I'll miss posting here! Thanks for coming by to visit every so often.

Sometime before Memorial Day weekend, my radio blog will move to http://jenaustinradio.blogspot.com.

It's a good thing! I'm jazzed.

Biz banter

I got my Texas Sales Tax and Use permit in the mail yesterday. It was an exciting day.

When the book comes out this summer I'll get in huge trouble if I sell any copies without collecting sales tax, so I figured I'd jump through the necessary hoops rather than risk punishment. The government scares me.

A few months ago Angela and I were having dinner with friends and one of them suggested we offer other fun things besides just the books, so we're working with a jewelry designer who is helping us make funky sporty sassy cool necklaces. She sent me the digital renderings yesterday and they rock. We might do dog tags and t-shirts too. All of this will hopefully come together this summer around the time the first book comes out. July or August.

This eats up most of my spare time. I did have time to hit Walmart, Petco, Ulta, Old Navy, the bank, the Container Store, the haircut store, and Albertsons on the way home today though. I set a world speed record in the Container Store. The cashier was in shock. All I needed was a mesh laundry bag because Sophie chewed a hole in our current one, and those were right by the entrance so I grabbed one, hit the checkout, and I was outta there in under two minutes. Disgustingly efficient.

Back to the biz...

Gayla Prom - follow up

Oh, the prom...

I went to a small school growing up, so I went to my high school prom all 4 years. For whatever reason I was scared to death of it, but I suffered through and by my senior year I was numb to the fear and thought it was mildly fun. Kind of like if you get lashed with a wet noodle enough times it might start to tickle.

I should ask my mom who my dates were. I think I went with Tom Martin both my freshman and sophomore years. That might lead you to believe we were "going steady" that whole time, but no. That was the extent of our relationship. Two dates to two proms that were a year apart. I don't think there was even a kiss at the end of the night. I wasn't disappointed. Tom was a really great guy though. He still lives in the same town.

My junior year I went by myself. Wow...I had forgotten how that felt and just typing it brought up all those old feelings of inadequacy, rejection, and being out of the loop. Ick. But I think I had the most fun that year because I wasn't worried about how I was acting or whether or not my date liked me. I danced with my friends, got down with my bad self to Mony Mony, and went home knowing I had passed some sort of solitude/fortitude test. My senior year I went with Shane Schutz. Tom, Shane, and I were 3 of 12 in our class. It was a small school. Wow, I really got around. I dated nearly 1/4 of the class! What a tramp.

The whole point of this rambling is to say there's a really cool prom coming up this Saturday that I wish I could have been part of back them. GAYla Prom. Angela and I went last year even though we don't exactly fit into the 14-22 age group, and we're going again this year because I'm hosting again. The kids are awesome. So friendly and happy to be in an environment that embraces them completely. I'm just happy to witness it...
